Portfolio
This portfolio contains some pieces of research I did throughout my university education. It’s more or less divided by topic. All links lead to repos on my GitHub.
Climate / weather models
- Simulating the Greenland ice sheet using a two-dimensional ice-flow model, that was coded from scratch.
- Influence of CAPE on hail mixing ratio in supercells simulated in CM1
- How does changing grid resolution alter the precipitation forecast in COSMO-CLM?
- Impact of increasing atmospheric CO2 concentration on global temperature & precipitation patterns
- Extreme precipitation events under varying CO2 concentration & ice sheet configuration
Remote sensing
- Retrieving sea surface temperature from Sentinel-3B satellite data using optimal estimation algorithm
Traditional stats
- We used a linear regression model to understand the drivers of increased productivity of boreal forests in Scandinavia.
Machine learning
- A random forest model is trained on and predicts the sentiment of US tweets. Ultimately, it is investigated whether classification improves if the location of the tweet is added as a feature.
- Cluster analysis of small-scale temperature data using
kmeansalgorithm
Questionnaire
- We designed, distributed and evaluated a questionnaire to assess the usefulness of different types of self-designed weather warning maps.
Hardware
- I set up an experiment to understand the warming effect of CO2 in the atmosphere with a live measurement-display.
Software
robipyis my personal python package with useful functions I sometimes use.
LaTeX
- I designed a poster template for the meteorological institute of Free University Berlin using
tikzposterCTAN package. - And (of course) also a presentation template based on
beamer
